Kreyol Cottage & Townhouse Building prototypes using recycled rubble and braced timber frames

~ENTREPENEURS DU MONDE~

Entrepreneurs du Monde (EDM) provides access to housing for people from disadvantaged areas, employing building types that respect the traditional architecture of Haiti.  They are working with a group of twenty masons at their business incubator site outside of Port au Prince, refining earthquake and hurricane resistant construction methods that  reuse recycled debris  materials.   EDM is also establishing a model community in Carrefour Feuilles.

In  market studies EDM identified several promising sectors related to debris recycling including: building structure and envelope, roadbuilding and decorative architectural elements. Technical tests were successfully performed on the various recycled debris products and systems to ensure quality.  Scores of Haitians have been engaged in EDM training, work and entrepreneurial programs in these sectors.
